Overview

The Zebra Danio is metallic silver or gold in color with many horizontal stripes that are a blue grey hue and run from the gill all the way to the tip of the tail fin. The bold striping is what inspired its common name.

They should be kept in a group of at least 6 since they are schooling fish, and may squabble amongst themselves to determine a pecking order. Having a proper sized school will also negate any fin nipping behavior. They are a good choice for most community tanks with other small, relatively peaceful fish. They will appreciate a planted tank with plenty of open swimming space.

Their diet should consist of high quality flakes and pellets as well as live and frozen foods.
