Overview
The Sunburst Butterflyfish, a popular choice for many aquarists and an excellent beginner fish, has a wide assortment of other common names, including: Klein's, Orange, and Black-lipped Butterflyfish. They are golden yellow with varying amounts of brown hues with tiny, bluish white freckling throughout their body. They have a white face and a thick black vertical stripe through their eyes.
They can be kept with other butterflyfish, including their own species, as well as other peaceful community fish. If kept well fed and housed with specific types of hard coral, they may be successfully housed in a large reef tank, but generally they will eat soft corals and sessile invertebrates.
Their diet should insist of meaty preparations including mysis and brine shrimp as well as krill. They should also be given high quality flakes or pellets containing Spirulina and supplemented with seaweed.
