Overview
The Red Flame Dwarf Gourami is a color variation of the Dwarf Gourami species that also includes a popular Powder Blue color morph. The majority of their body is a vibrant red, but their dorsal area is a bright blue. Males may be more beautifully colored. A labyrinth fish, they will take air directly from the surface of the water.
They should be kept in a tank with plenty of plant coverage and hiding places to feel secure. They are compatible with other small, peaceful fish and should not be kept with any fin nippers. Unlike their larger non-dwarf counterparts, they are very peaceful themselves. They can also be kept with other gouramis.
Omnivores, they will do best when fed meaty preparations and vegetable matter. Live or frozen bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp and tubifex are ideal with herbivorous pellets or flakes added in to their diet as well.
