Overview
Linckia Sea Stars are more commonly called Blue Linckia Sea Star's due to the fact that their color is usually varying shades of blue. Occasionally, specimens have been found in other colors, such as purple, pink, yellow or green.
It should be kept in a large tank that will be able to accommodate it's adult size, with rocks to forage on and to hide in. As a juvenile, it will spend most of it's time hiding, but as an adult it becomes bolder and may anchor to glass or on the outside of rocks and wave it's arms to search for free floating microbes to eat. It will tolerate the presence of other sea stars in the aquarium.
Linckia Sea Stars are more difficult to keep than hardier sea stars. Like other species, they are extremely sensitive to changes in pH, salinity, oxygen and temperature and cannot tolerate copper medication and should never be exposed to air during handling. Their diets can be supplemented by clam meat or tablets placed under them.
