Overview

The Gold Spotted Rabbitfish gets its name from its intricate coloring. The body is brown and covered in many close together, small golden spots. The spots even cover the fins and the eyes of the fish, giving it impressive camouflage.

It is a docile, peaceful species except towards other rabbitfish, unless in a mated pair. It may be housed with larger, more aggressive fish since they will quickly learn to leave it alone due to its venomous* dorsal spines that it can raise in self defense. It is reef safe if well fed, if not it may nip at and even eat LPS and soft corals. It's diet should consist of fresh vegetables and marine algae.

* =  While their venomous spines are only used in self defense, they can cause extremely painful stings so caution should be exercised. Never pick them up by hand and be aware of them while cleaning the tank so that you do not accidentally bump into their spines. If you are stung, a visit to the doctor is recommended.
