Overview
The Emerald Eye, or Eyespot Rasbora, has a marking on its dorsal fin which give it its name, as compared to other Rasbora. It has a shiny blue-green spot at the bottom of their eyes.
They are not generally a hardy fish, so care should be taken to ensure that the aquarium is set up properly and well established with no water chemistry fluctuations or other possible issues. They will do well with a large school of their own species--at least 8, though even more are preferable, and can live in a species only tank or with other small, peaceful community fish. They can be quite timid. They will appreciate a densely planted tank with plenty of hiding places with a sandy substrate. Filtration does not need to be strong as their natural habitat doesn't have a very strong current.
Occasionally, they may be picky, but they should usually eat micro pellets, flake food, and prefer live or frozen daphnia, bloodworms, tubifex and other meaty foods.
