Overview

The Rummy Nose Tetra has a shining, bright silver body. The tail is clear and splotched with large black and white spots. The nose and face has a vibrant red marking from which their common name was derived.

To best simulate their natural environment, the tank should have driftwood, numerous rocks and live plants to give them hiding places. They are peaceful and will do well with other equally mild tempered community fish, and should be housed in a shoal of at least 6.

They will accept a wide variety of foods and should be fed both meaty preparations and vegetable matter for optimal nutrition. They will enjoy live, frozen or freeze dried bloodworms, daphnia and tubifex. They can also be fed micro pellets and high quality flakes.
