Overview

The Geophagus Pellegrini is a rare Cichlid that  hails from Columbia.  I

These Geophagus are benthophagus fish, so they gulp bits of sand to eat food, and leftover materials come out their mouth and gills.  A sand substrate is required to mimic this environment.

They are peaceful to fish similar in size, and considered shy.  So a group of at least 6 would show them best.

Their diet should consist of small food that can fit through their mouth and gills. Small cichlid pellets that sink would be the best option.  The primary diet should be mostly vegetable.
